Jody Cantillon, and the Litigation Team of Cantillons Solicitors, recently successfully obtained significant compensation for a client who suffered injuries, loss and damage following an accident at work.
In summary, our client was required to carry out maintenance work on a make shift elevated platform. Whilst our client was carrying out her duties on the platform, the platform collapsed resulting in our client suffering serious injuries.
The matter was referred to the Personal Injuries Assessment Board PIAB (formerly the Injuries Board), and an assessment of compensation was made. Given the extent of our client’s injuries, the assessment was not sufficient, and we advised our client to reject same.
Thereafter, High Court Personal Injuries Proceedings issued. The Defendant ultimately admitted liability. The case settled for compensation well in excess of the award originally offered by PIAB. The matter settled without our client having to attend Court.
