Significant Settlement for Family of young man who died following a brain injury February 2018

Posted in News on Wednesday, July 11th, 2018

Karen Kearney and the medical negligence team were instructed by a young man who sustained a head injury following a fall, following which he developed a subdural haematoma. Unfortunately, due to the negligence on the part of a HSE run hospital in treating the subdural haematoma, he suffered a significant brain injury and as a result of which he ultimately died, leaving behind a heartbroken family, to include two young daughters.

Cantillons reconstituted the proceedings in the name of the deceased man. The deceased’s mother also brought a claim for personal injuries sustained by her as a consequence of the Defendants’ negligence in treating her son.

Ultimately, a substantial six figure settlement was obtained by way of settlement out of Court. Clearly no sum will compensate them for the loss of their beloved son and dad. The sum secured however will provide some financial assistance and security for this young man’s daughters’ future.
