Lucena Clinic and Health Service Executive admit to failing to provide care within an acceptable timeframe to 11 year old girl with acute mental health issues.

Lyndy Cantillon and Mary Barry were involved in a fatal action brought by the family of Milly Tuomey, who sadly died by suicide in January 2016 at the tender age of 11 years old. In the weeks prior to her death Milly had sought help from a number of healthcare professionals for her deteriorating mental health. Unfortunately, each one of these professionals left her down by not recognising the seriousness of the situation, and not referring her for urgent mental health care. The matter settled by way of mediation, and was ruled before Coffey J in April 2024 in the High Court in Dublin.
