Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal – Remote Hearing

Posted in News on Wednesday, April 22nd, 2020

The Litigation Department at Cantillons Solicitors represented a Prison Officer who had suffered a very serious assault during the course of his employment and submitted on his behalf, a claim to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal which was supported by various medical reports and out of pocket expenses incurred by him.

A Decision (Award) was ultimately given by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal by a Single Member of the Tribunal and having considered same with the Client it was decided to file an Appeal against that Decision.

The Appeal hearing was recently due to be heard before a three Member Committee at the Criminal Injuries Tribunal, but unfortunately, same could not proceed due to the current restrictions in place.  Cantillons Solicitors proposed and instigated a remote hearing of that Appeal, which was successfully completed involving all parties very much to the satisfaction of the client who will now get his Decision quicker than he would have, had the Appeal hearing been postponed.
