Prison Officers who are assaulted during the course of their duties may be entitled to bring a claim to the Criminal Injuries Compensation Tribunal.\u00a0 We have many years of experience processing such claims before the Tribunal.\u00a0 The Tribunal awards general damages (for pain and suffering) and special damages (for items such as loss of earnings, medical bills etc.)\u00a0 The first stage of the process is one whereby an application is made on paper.\u00a0 We instruct relevant medical experts, obtain reports and provide these to the Tribunal with a summary of the case and details of the expense and quantum of the claim.\u00a0 We advise as to whether or not the award should be accepted or rejected.\u00a0 If it is rejected, we will represent the Prison Officer at the hearing before the Tribunal and if appropriate, instruct Counsel.<\/li>\n
