WORKER COMPENSATED DUE TO ACCIDENT AT WORK

Jody Cantillon, and the Litigation Team of Cantillons Solicitors, recently successfully represented a client who suffered serious personal injuries, loss and damage as a result of an accident at work.

Our client was required, during the course of his employment, to work on a lift which was defective, and posed a hazard to our client.   Whilst using the lift, a piece of the lift flew off and struck our client, causing significant injuries.

The matter was referred to the Personal Injuries Assessment Board (PIAB, also known as the Injuries Board), who assessed the matter based on the Book of Quantum. This assessment did not adequately compensate our client, and thus, we advised our client to reject the offer.

High Court proceedings were issued. The Defendant denied any liability for the accident. The case was listed before the High Court, and it ultimately settled with our client receiving significant compensation for the injuries, loss and damage.
