Troubled Waters

Posted in News on Thursday, May 5th, 2016

Reports have emerged that the Irish Ferries Ship Epsilon sustained extensive damage following a sailing into Storm Imogen while en route from Cherbourg in France. The photographs of the freight cargo that have been released show utter devastation with vehicles and products extensively damaged.  The levels of personal injuries suffered have not yet been reported. It begs the question -why did the ship sail into the storm?  It also raises the question of potential litigation. We at Cantillons have researched the Admiralty Law in this area which is very complex and detailed. It remains to be seen if claims will follow this awful event in which some observers apparently feared that the ship would be ‘gone’
