Settlement in excess of €500,000 for client injured due to workplace accident

The Litigation team at Cantillons recently negotiated a settlement of close to €600,000 for a client who suffered complications following a sprained wrist, suffered as a result of a workplace fall.

An application was made to PIAB who declined to furnish an assessment of damages, given the complexity of issues involved.   Proceedings issued.  Liability was fully contested by the Defendants, but The team at Cantillons worked closely with an Engineer instructed by our offices to build our client’s case.   She then worked with our client’s doctors to ensure all aspects of their injuries were appropriately recorded.   A detailed schedule of out of pocket expenses was prepared to ensure that all past and future losses could be properly accounted for.

Our client’s employer invited us to settlement negotiations which were conducted remotely. Despite challenges posed by the Pandemic and the complex issues arising in this case, the case was settled within 26 months of the issuing of court papers. Our client was delighted that the case settled for such an appropriate figure without the necessity to go to Court.
