Settlement for Lady following misreading of Cervical slides

Orla Kelly as part of the Medical Negligence Team represented a lady who was part of the 221 Cervical Check Group and who had her previous smear test misreported.  She suffered psychiatric injury and disruption to her life as part of her claim. The matter was hard fought by the two laboratories involved in the reporting of the lady’s smear test, and the HSE who had accepted primary liability for the acts of the laboratories.  The matter was set down for trial, but fortunately, we were able to conclude the matter out of Court during a day long mediation and received a sum of money to compensate the lady for her injuries.
