Second Interim Settlement of €900,000.00 approved for 5 year old boy who suffered catastrophic injuries at birth
Posted in News on Thursday, September 10th, 2020
The President of the High Court has approved an interim payment of €900,000.00 for 3 years until October 2022, for Jack Hegarty. This settlement will go towards Jack’s ongoing care costs and different intensive therapies including Anat Baniel therapy, physical therapy, speech and language therapy etc to assist with his various disabilities.
Following Jack’s birth in December 2014, he acquired a hypoxic brain injury due to the negligence of the Defendant hospital. Jack’s mother issued High Court proceedings on her son’s behalf and the Defendant hospital admitted liability in May 2016. Subsequently in October 2016, Jack was awarded €1,600,000.00 by the High Court (this figure included past losses, an interim payment for 3 years and general damages).
Marian Fogarty and the Medical Negligence team at Cantillons Solicitors are delighted to have assisted Jack with securing his second interim payment.
