Recalled DePuy ASR hip device caused untold hardship to victims

Posted in Publications on Thursday, March 15th, 2018

Orla Kelly, Partner contributed to this article and accompanying video regarding the recalled DePuy Hip devices.  Orla and the medical negligence team have successfully represented a number of clients who have had their lives altered dramatically since they received these failed devices.  Orla was able to use that experience when contributing to this Irish Times feature.

Cantillons represent a number of clients in litigation against DePuy and have seen first-hand the injuries and disruption caused by these recalled DePuy ASR hip devices.  A variety of substantial settlements were reached at various stages; some pre-trial, some following a part heard trial and in certain cases, through an Alternative Dispute Resolution (‘ADR’) process.   A number of cases are still ongoing and hope to be resolved in the near future.  There are still a number of victims who have not brought proceedings, for whatever reason, but who may still be eligible to do so if they wish.   It is important to consult a Solicitor without delay if contemplating bringing legal proceedings.
