Over Half a Million for Delayed Diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma
Posted in News on Thursday, January 4th, 2018
Orla Kelly and Karen Bohane were instructed by a gentleman regarding a delay in diagnosing his multiple myeloma. Despite his vigilance in seeking medical assistance for his symptoms, unfortunately his multiple myeloma went undiagnosed due to negligence of his Consultant. Ultimately the myeloma was diagnosed by a different Consultant and the appropriate life-saving treatment was commenced. However the delay in diagnosis meant that he had suffered progression of the myeloma, together with deterioration and damage to his kidneys and spine.
This matter was fully fought by the Defendants who denied any link between the delay in diagnosis and the resulting damage our client.
In advance of trial a substantial settlement was negotiated for this deserving gentleman thus avoiding the need to go to Court.
