GARDA RECEIVES COMPENSATION

Liam Dunford and Ernest Cantillon at Cantillons Solicitors recently successfully represented a member of An Garda Síochána in the High Court who suffered a number of physical injuries as well as psychological injury during the course of her work as a Garda when she was violently assaulted by a male she was arresting. The case was heard remotely, with the Client attending at our offices and was able to watch on line her case being presented by his Legal Team to the Judge (remotely). The Client had already sworn a very comprehensive Affidavit which we drafted for her. The Affidavit set out fully the details of the injuries sustained to her (supported by medical reports) and details of her out-of-pocket expenses. Legal Submissions were warranted in the case as well.

After reading the comprehensive Affidavit and Legal Submissions and listening to the Legal Teams and making further Submissions, the Court awarded our client significant compensation in line with her injuries plus all of her out-of-pocket expenses, plus costs. Our client was very happy with the result as she avoided the stress of having to attend Court to give direct evidence and be cross-examined.
