DRIVER INVOLVED IN ROAD TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS RECEIVES COMPENSATION

Jody Cantillon, and the Litigation Team of Cantillons Solicitors, recently represented a client in a personal injuries claim, arising out of two separate car accidents.
Our client was driving a car along the main road, when another car pulled out in front of him causing a collision. Our client suffered personal injuries, mainly a whiplash injury, but also psychological injuries. Unfortunately, whilst our client was still recovering from the injuries sustained in that accident, he was involved in another car accident, whereby he suffered a further whiplash injury.
Our client was entitled to bring personal injury claims arising out of both car accidents. Both matters were referred to the Personal injuries Assessment Board (PIAB). PIAB assessed the matters and, having considered the Book of Quantum, we advised our client that the sum offered was not sufficient compensation. Thus, we advised our client to reject the offer from PIAB, which advice he accepted.
High Court Personal Injury proceedings were issued in relation to both matters. We achieved a successful settlement for our client’s claims, without the need for our client to attend Court. The awards were significantly higher than the amount offered by PIAB.

* In contentious business, a Solicitor may not calculate fees or other charges as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement. Many Personal Injury Solicitors portray themselves as “no win no fee Solicitors Cork”. This term can be misleading and it is essential that you discuss fees with the Personal Injury Solicitor you ultimately choose. At Cantillons Solicitors, we are entirely transparent.
