Court of Appeal increases compensation for 78 year old lady

Sinead Carroll and Ernest Cantillon recently represented a 78-year-old woman who fractured her hip after a slip and fall in Dunnes Stores. The case was bitterly fought by Dunnes who argued that she contributed to her own fall. The team argued that it was entirely the fault of Dunnes and their staff. Cantillons were successful in that argument and the woman was awarded over €137,000 in the High Court, including a sum of €20,000 to compensate her for pain in the future.
The case was appealed to the Court of Appeal.
Yet again, the litigation team were successful in obtaining compensation for the lady and the Court of Appeal increased the damages for her pain and future suffering to €40,000.
