Compensation for client who tripped on faulty footpath
Posted in News on Monday, November 11th, 2024
Jody Cantillon and the litigation team at Cantillons Solicitors recently obtained significant compensation for our client who suffered injury, loss and damage as a result of a fall on a footpath in Cork.
In summary, our client was walking along a footpath when they were caused to trip and fall on a lip on the footpath. This lip was created by defective workmanship.
Cantillons Solicitors instructed an Engineer who confirmed that there was negligence in the construction of the footpath and this resulted in the tripping hazard.
The matter was referred to PIAB (now the Personal Injuries Resolution Board – PIRB) and the matter was released as the Defendants denied liability. Thereafter, our client launched a High Court Personal Injuries Claim.
The case settled for significant compensation without our client having to give evidence in Court.

* In contentious business, a Solicitor may not calculate fees or other charges as a percentage or proportion of any award or settlement. Many Personal Injury Solicitors portray themselves as “no win no fee Solicitors Cork” or “no win no fee Solicitors Dublin”. This term can be misleading and it is essential that you discuss fees with the Personal Injury Solicitor you ultimately choose. At Cantillons Solicitors, we are entirely transparent.
