Compensation Claim for Road Traffic Accident Settles by means of Remote Settlement Negotiations
Posted in News on Monday, May 4th, 2020
Amy Connolly and the Litigation Team recently settled a High Court Personal Injury action for a Client who had suffered serious and significant injuries as a result of a road traffic accident which occurred in November 2016. The Client’s vehicle was stationary at traffic lights when he was rear ended by another vehicle. The other driver fled on foot following the accident and could not be traced by Gardai which meant that there was no identifiable wrongdoer and accordingly, the Motor Insurers’ Bureau of Ireland (MIBI) were named as the Defendant in this matter.
This case was set down for trial in the High Court in Cork however, following Court closures due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, the matter was not heard during the recent High Court sittings. In an effort to bring this matter to a successful conclusion for our Client, Amy and her team engaged in settlement negotiations with the Defendant’s Solicitors.
Government restrictions meant that negotiations were carried out remotely which culminated in a substantial settlement for the Plaintiff. Our Client was very happy that the case settled on a private and confidential basis, and without having to attend trial in the High Court.
