Cases settled for victims of the DePuy ASR Recalled Hip Devices
Posted in News on Friday, October 6th, 2017
Throughout 2016 and 2017 Karen Bohane and Orla Kelly have achieved a number of substantial settlements for the victims of the DePuy ASR Recalled Hip Devices. A variety of substantial settlements were reached at various stages; some pre-trial, some following a part heard trial and in certain cases through an Alternative Dispute Resolution (‘ADR’) process.
These recalled DePuy ASR Devices caused significant injury and disruption to victims. Many victims have undergone at least one revision surgery due to the damage caused and most face further more complex revision surgery. Our clients have suffered to varying degrees, but all have suffered daily disruption to their mobility and lifestyle. Many victims find themselves in the position of being unable to work or enjoy previous hobbies. In addition they require regular orthopaedic review and blood monitoring and sometimes live in fear of the potential adverse effects from raised metal ions.
These cases were hard fought by the Defendants and it is great satisfaction to the firm that settlements have been reached and continue to be reached in number of these cases.
