Cantillons negotiates terms of severance for a client who had found herself at the centre of an unfair investigation and disciplinary process

The Litigation Team recently represented an employment law client who found herself at the centre of an unfair investigation and disciplinary procedure. Following Cantillons intervention, her employers recognised that the investigation against our client was fundamentally flawed. They offered to re-open the investigation. However, our client felt that the relationship of trust between the employer and herself had broken down irretrievably. Following negotiations, our client’s Contract of Employment was terminated by way of mutual agreement and she was compensated for losses incurred, to include loss of salary and other entitlements. She also received a glowing reference acknowledging all of the positive contributions she had made to the Company during her term of employment. The team at Cantillons worked hard to ensure that the case was concluded within a timely manner to bring what was obviously a stressful period to a conclusion for our client so that she can focus on her future career prospects. The case settled for a figure which we were happy to recommend to our client without the requirement for involvement of the WRC, or issuing of any Court Applications, or proceedings.
