Boy with special needs settles significant claim against the State for failure to provide appropriate care and education

Posted in News on Monday, January 12th, 2015

Parents of a young boy for whom the State had failed in the context of the provision of appropriate care and education successfully settled his claim for damages before the High Court in Dublin in January, 2015.  The case had commenced by way of an Interlocutory Application in 2009 whereby Cantillons successfully negotiated an 18 month State funded care and educational placement in the United States for the young boy.  The boys claim for damages as a result of the State’s failure to provide him with appropriate care and education historically was listed for hearing at the High Court in Dublin during January, 2015 and just before the case commenced, negotiations were entered into and the case settled for a substantial sum.
