What to Do if Your Parcel Is Stuck After the Fastway Collapse

The collapse of the parent company of courier firm Fastway in Ireland has left up to 300 jobs at risk, along with the operations of hundreds of subcontractors and franchisees. (96fm.ie)
For customers with parcels currently held in Fastway depots, the legal position is clear: if you engaged Fastway directly to ship a package, you still own the goods and have the right to retrieve them.
“If you engaged Fastway directly to send a package, you retain ownership, you should contact the company or the receivers to identify where your package is and arrange collection.”
For those who ordered items online through a retailer and the retailer used Fastway for delivery, the retailer remains responsible for ensuring the order arrives. Under EU law you are entitled to delivery within 30 days unless a different arrangement was made.
“Under EU law, you’re entitled to have goods delivered within 30 days unless you’ve made a different arrangement, if the shop used Fastway, they’re responsible for ensuring your order still arrives.”
In short: if you arranged the courier yourself, contact the receivers to reclaim your parcel. If you are a customer awaiting an online order, contact the retailer to ensure your goods are delivered.
